The Tomb Raider Sega Mean Machines Comicbook story is according to a wiki, a direct prequel to Tomb Raider. After the story read in the comic book, Lara Croft went to Calcutta to have some tea.

If you ask me, they've spend some time writing a design in reverse. Bringing the undead in, and Pierre or Larson not even being her first kills. What a discovery.
