I do think cartoony visuals can help a game have a more light-hearted, campy image. However tomee is right, it's not like the MK games even now take themselves too seriously with humourless, overdramatic characters and trying too hard to keep everything grounded. Reboot TR is queen of that.

Mortal Kombat still retains it's over the top, campy and light-hearted roots though. Liu Kang still goes "fhdjkgfdjslghdsfjkgdjk" while doing the bicycle kicks. Raiden still goes "fjhgkghgfjhfghdlksddf" when doing his electric fly. Characters are still oozing sass, charisma, sarcasm and humour, that you can tell from the intro dialogues and victory poses. Johnny Cage's childish antics have actually been amplified more than ever in MK11. The current MK games most definitely still are campy, they just have better acting, design and animation. |

Because they then have Legend Lara running her render over just after with the motorbike, to represent CD taking over from Core. (Potentially, it's a theory that went round back then.)

Nope love it! If we’re talking about the opening with her mom in the plane then yes that’s terrible
