I could see it working through the use of short segments of key moments in previous games that have been reimagined and made to suit the new mechanics, narratives and characters.

I even made a whole thread on the topic of the next game being a reimagined TR chronicles with key events being told from each game rather than the chronicles ones. That thread was a huge flop and is now long forgotten.
