I love the Dxtre UI, if i had to use Roomedit i would have probably given up, as i can't stand that interface.
And yeah, i like the way triggers work in Dxtre, it's easy enough to understand and apply, it "makes sense".

Great to know! So it may be easier to learn if i try it in the future.

Indeed it's a shame it never happened, but as i always say i'm eternally grateful to TPascal either way, if it wasn't for his editor i wouldn't be creating a full TR2 game.

You should have chatted with Turbo sometime, beyond the genius with which he developed in his dialogues, he had a great sense of humor.
It was not clear to me why he put aside the fexengine / dxtre3d 3.0. While the project is developing more deeply, more issues have to be taken into account and it is more complicated.
Now that I remember, he was trying to implement in the fexEngine, the Newton Engine module, to manage the physics part, after that I didn't know more.

it's the fastest to use both
- I begin in NGLE and do geometry and triggers
- then I swap to TE and do texturing and objects
poll makes no sense, should have multiple choice

Poll has a sense, but I don't want to explain it again and again.

I used TRNG back when I made my first and only level like 10 years ago.
Nowadays I'm currently playing around a bit in Tomb Editor.

I can't deny the improvements TE brought. However, even after giving TE a serious try, letting NGLE go is too hard.

Remember, this is just me being very resistant to change.

I used TREP and NGLE religiously a decade ago for my first and only level and then in 2016 when I tried to make levels again. I really grew to hate it. I never made another new level because it was too tedious and not fun to make anything I was proud of and throw on top Wadmerger's constant decline (bless that program) and how scripting replaced TREP's beloved check boxes, I didn't want to touch the level editor again with a ten foot pole. I just did not have the patience.

Now I used Tomb Editor to build my BtB level and honestly it was such a massive improvement that everyone who worked on it and made it happen should be on the logo of these forums as tribute I would never in a million years thought I would actually build another level let alone have it almost completed in the span of a month, and actually have fun in the process!

Thanks for kind words! Unfortunately, we can't fix things with TRNG itself, so no checkboxes etc for now, but TR5Main will hopefully fix that too.

That's okay, it's always very hard to change workflow, especially after 20 (!) years since original editor release and especially because workflow is very specific. You can try to customize keyboard shortcuts if it helps a little.

The poll is still open, for one more week!

If you miss it, then no problem, I would like to repeat it at the end of the year (it could be a recurring poll, per year) to see how the preferences changed to the new tools during one year.
