Reading about the scare factor of Tomb Raider II's yetis in Danjo86's running commentary reminded of something I'd like to stress about Tomb Raider Chronicles:
Chapter 3 is a great change in style and has excellent atmosphere at times. The first and second levels of the Irish adventure actually succeeded in spooking me out in a way that I hadn't experienced in the series since Tomb Raider II's yetis. |

Chronicles is like the Legend of the classics, short but with great location variety. I’ve enjoyed the VCI section more over time.
I’m itching to do yet another playthrough. |

Yes, the name of the game is all I needed to appreciate for it. It has better graphics, and not much change from the original Tomb Raider formula. Although some, might disagree. It has puzzles, tombs, underwater, level, and dungeon escapes, for sure.

I like the calmness and solitude of Rome levels, and the sombre creepiness of Ireland, even though this game feels rather gimmicky to a comedic degree at times. If Chronicles is ever "retouched" I think a remake would be better than a remaster. The whole Ireland section has so much lore and interesting enemies, it could be it's own game imo. They really could expand the village, add all sorts of notes and stories about how and when it was abandoned, expand the demonology angle etc...
Russia and VCI levels can go die in a fire though.

@ Ring of Fire: I remember only one "tomb" in TR Chronicles in Ireland. Where are the other tombs?

Stretching the definition of a tomb I know, but not more so than the Wreck of the Maria Doria! Personally I like this sort of improvised tomb... Note: the Temple of Xian is really not a tomb per its title, yet the community often regards it as a classic tomb raiding experience (to be fair, it does feature the Terracotta Army, which is, you know, funerary art). |

Good point Sat42, the submarine technically is a tomb. Thanks!
