The story was so forgettable, it literally didn't even register in my mind the first second or third time I played. I couldn't tell you who the main villain was or the premise of the story.

Puzzle and gameplay-wise, Shadow was the best game since the classics.

Story and Lara's character-wise, just like Rise, it was horrible. This is my biggest pet peeve with Crystal Dynamics.

CD knows how to write good characters, but they abandon them or kill them and keep the lame ones. Roth, Grimm, Amanda, Uncle Atlas. So much potential. But we get two whole games about local villager drama. WHY!!!! These are not people in Lara's world. This is a hi and bye cast from the second they come on screen. That sinking realization that this is the main cast you're stuck with the whole game is so depressing. They hold no stake in Lara's life. I want to see her inner circle and HER world, not her dipping in to someone else's before forever bouncing. And what happened to sexy Totec from GOL? Nope, nothing like that ever. We get JOHNAAAAA/SAAAAAAM. Ramen noodle supporting cast.

EDIT: I will say EM did get the outfit right. Besides the South Pacific outfit, this is the best outfit and color scheme in the whole series.

I'm surprised to see a vote of confidence for Totec, but most people seem to have forgotten about GoL. Different continuity, in any case.
