The Victoria Stone

STORY

Queen Victoria of England was once said to posses a necklace adorned with a gem, called the Victoria Stone. Rumors swirled about its origin and its purpose.Some say it's a stone of great magical power, others say it is the key to a great technology. Alas, no records of its origins, paintings of its likeness or knowledge of its location survived to this day; and the stone faded to myth and myth to legend.

Most tales of the stone come from an Italian cult who worship it as a holy artifact. Little is known about the religion except they worship a deity know only as the "madam". They are said to have the ability to summon her, with certain runes and artifacts present. Usually magical trinkets or personal belongings of hers, such as a mask. They, the cultists insist the Victoria stone rightly belonged to their ruler, Madam. They believe it holds magic powers, and was her most prized possession, folklore states that the stone lets them summon her at her maximum power, and in a much easier ritual even when at a sizeable distance from the stone.

Recently a team of archeologists believed they found a hidden chamber hidden under a residential complex in England, belonging to none other than Queen Victoria herself. A tomb of sorts, some would say. Soon after though, a sect of the Italian cult arrived on the scene, and slaughtered the archeologists and residents alike whilst looking for the stone. The massacre mortified the country, the British government quickly dispatched the SAS to handle the problem. They were no match however for the female assassins and where quickly cut down.

At a loss, they hired an American Military Contractor to deal with the situation. That contractor was none other than Von Croy Industries.The British Government was completely un-aware of the stones discovery, Von Croy however was more well informed. Whether the stone was a key to unlock some mythical machinery, magic artifact of great power or just a priceless piece of jewelry Von Croy was enticed by it, and would go to any means to obtain it, whatever its nature. Werner had the entire area put under military quarantine and led the government to believe the threat was much greater than it appeared. Von Croy easily had the military might to squash the cult quickly and efficiently, but instead only incited a few small skirmishes to distract the Government.

With the quarantine preventing any interference and the skirmishes preventing the arousal of peoples suspicion Werner Von Croy prepared to harvest the stone. He even brought in the crown jewel of his aircraft fleet; A flying fortress supposedly outfitted with a powerful laser capable of tearing a hole fifty feet into the ground. What Von Croy didn't count on however, was our Miss Lara Crofts' inability to sit still With a shiny obj- priceless artifact up for grabs. Lara quickly charted a helicopter into the quarantined zone. As we all know Lara was never quite fond of helicopter pilots and failed to mention the resistance that would be encountered on this venture. Thus when one of the combatants shot a rocket towards them miss Croft swiftly grabbed the only parachute and lept from the aircraft, leaving the pilot to his fate and starting her search for the Victoria Stone in the bloodied street.

(This was originally started as an entry into the 20X20X20 challenge contest, procrastination has meant it obviously didn't get finished in time. Additionally I ended up running into the trigger-limit right before building the final area, requiring the level to be split in two. The first level still does fit within 20X20X20 squares, and the second level could've fit in it too.)

IMPORTANT NOTE

Do not attempt to use the corner bug, flare bug, or other such glitches that allow you to reach areas early, this can very easily make the game unwinnable if you attempt this. The package has now been updated to prevent various shortcuts, old saves are not compatible with this new package.

This looks really awesome! Really intriguing story, cool looking weapons and environments, and are those cut-scenes I see in the screenshots? There are so few cut-scenes in custom levels!

It looks like it had a lot of work put into it; I can't wait to play it! Just finished downloading it now.

Great to see this finally released! Gonna start playing this one now and it'll be interesting to hear my own voice coming out of a certain character in-game

Yes, there are cutscenes in the level, thanks for the compliments!

Hope you're satisfied with how your character is. (You're credited in the readme but now that I think about it I should probably mention it in the post)

Guess I'm lucky Seth has taken to releasing smaller projects now

I have a big problem...when I pick up a a second orange key I lost the one I had before and now I am blocked

Too same keys

I found also a big shortcut without use the 2 books...I go up in the main area with the slope at the left and after a simple banana jump

8000 kind? Not sure I get where the 8000 comes from, but as long as it's something you like then I guess it's good

You normally shouldn't be able to get the second orange key before the first, I'm afraid you'll have to reload an earlier save. You might be able to continue as is if you still have access to one of the orange keys, but you'd have to skip some more things with glitches to do so... If you have a save from before you took the shortcut, or before you picked up any keys in the shortcut, it would be best to go back to that.

EDIT: Found the shortcut... Can't believe I missed it... Could've sworn I made sure you can't use the slope to jump up there. Oh well, I'll see if can block that without causing some other problem. (you're supposed to be able to banana jump from there, just not be able to get up there from where you did)
