I'm out of words of praise... This is incredible. Can't wait to play Tomb Raider in gorgeous high-definition at 60FPS on a 50 inch TV!

Yes!!
I will try playing some old, custom levels for TR1 using OpenLara, it might be the best way to run them without the fuss of getting the original TR1 to run. |

Nice thing about openlara is to test levels on the fly. I didn't try playing any cutscenes but would be fun to walk around when Jacqueline Natla is talking to Lara.
Below is a video I made of the custom level. Made by Gecko Kid, Gecko Valley. T-Rex in all kinds of strange places. I wonder how to do custom .PHD level files, of course, I haven't searched a lot on here. Last edited by andrewsyc; 26-07-17 at 09:07. |

^ Yes, it's very convenient for playing old TR1 custom levels!
You can get more from TRLE.net, but you probably know that already. To make your own levels for TR1 you would have to use DXTre3D. I think I will try looking for some old TR1-3 custom level projects that can be opened/imported to DXTRe3D and converting them to TR1 Unlike making new levels from scratch this sort should provide quick, instant gratification |

Ah, so that's how that cheap pseudo-shadow effect is called
I think it works very nice as a substitute to the dynamic real shadow, which some people have complained about (which I think you should absolutely keep!!!). Bottom line is, as long as these options can be turned on and off on the fly then I say put them all in there! Also, I have an idea for substituting the fake shadow spot underneath Lara - you could just use the real time shadow in its place, except make it stick directly underneath her and not react to other lights, so that it's just a flat, drop-down variant of the real time shadows. I think it might be a nice compromise between the real time shadows and the spot. Gosh, I just CAN'T wait to run Venice in OpenLara...! Is there any way that you could load TR2 levels as TR1 levels, maybe by temporarily omitting stuff that's not implemented, such as the boat? Last edited by Dustie; 27-07-17 at 10:19. |
