Can't change controls in ATI version

Hi! I've been feeling the itch to get into trle levels recently after beating the original game, but it seems that the ATI version of every level I download does not allow me to change my controls. In the base game I could switch to user keys from the default controls menu, but oddly enough in any custom level that has an ATI version it is permanently set to Default Keys and I cannot switch to the User Keys section.

The DOSBox versions of trle levels allow me to change controls, but I would very much like to avoid using the program if possible, for hopefully obvious reasons.

I have not found a solution to the problem even after continuous searching through the forums, so posting here is a last resort for me. Any clue what might be wrong?
